Building Division comments for proposed ramp and addition of
Subject: height to existing fence.
Site Address: 917 Walnut Street
Owner: Laguio — New Hope Adult Family Home
In reviewing the above noted application for a Reasonable Accommodation, the Building
Division has the following comments:
1. A building permit is required for the new ramp.
2. Since the portion of the fence to be altered is located on both the subject property and
925 Walnut St., fence permits are required for each property and must be signed by
the respective property owners.
3. Two bedroom emergency egress windows appear to open into the sideyard where the
ramp is to be constructed. Based on the plot plan submitted, it appears these egress
windows will be blocked by the ramp. A minimum distance of 3 feet must be
provided from the exterior face of the egress windows to face of the ramp for the
entire length of the window, to allow for adequate egress area.
4. The ramp must be constructed per IRC R311.6. See attached handout for general
code requirements. Construction plans of the ramp will be required, including
foundation, framing and guardrails.
5. Clearly show the location of the fence on the plot plan and that it is located on both
properties as noted in the applicant's letter. Provide a detail of the fence, including
height and structural bracing for wind.
