Subject: LANDSCAPING MAINTENANCE BOND - FILE 9 BLD -2006-0563
To Whom It May Concern:
GARY HAAKENSON
MAYOR
The building permit referenced above was for the construction of the Vision Dream Center in 2006. With that
permit was a bond for landscaping maintenance in the amount of $6,212.00 which was posted on August 17,
2007. The bond expires on August 17, 2009, and requires that the landscaping at the site today matches what
was originally approved and installed.
Based on an inspection performed on July 15, 2009, it was noted that while most of the installed plants
appeared to be reasonably healthy, it looked like there had not been any weeding or maintenance done in most
of the planting beds for some time. The southern beds along 240`' Street SW looked particularly overgrown.
According to the approved landscaping plan (attached), there is supposed to be Vinca minor ground cover in
the planting beds and it was very difficult to tell the ground cover from the weeds.
In order to release the bond, maintenance of the planting beds around the Dream Center must be performed.
Depending on the results of the weeding and maintenance, the Vinca ground cover may need to be reinstalled.
Once the maintenance is performed, I can perform another inspection and, if everything looks good, release the
$6,212.00 bond.
If you choose not to perform the maintenance and bring the planting areas into agreement with the approved
landscaping plan, the City can capture the bond and use the money to bring the site into compliance. A copy
of the maintenance bond release form is enclosed.
If you have any questions or wish to schedule a time for another landscaping inspection, please contact me at
(425) 771-0220 or by email at clugston@ci.edmond.wa.us.

Mike Clugston, AICP
