Letter from neighbor to Helleren.pdfRECEIVED g J SEP 2 9 2017 UVELOAmff Patricia Andrews Smith PO Box 732 Edmonds, Wa 98020 Leif Helleren Construction Inc PO Box 1764 Edmonds, Wa 98020 Dear Mr Helleren, We've spoken throughout your construction of 2 homes on Main St this past year and have together acknowledged that the narrow access to the site from the alley was less than ideal for large trucks. I had spoken more than once with the Edmonds Building Dept when I discovered the only construction access would be from the alley. I voiced my concern that there wasn't sufficient space for construction vehicles to navigate the sharp left turn without having first to make a sharp right turn into my property. This resulted in damage to a portion of my fence and gate. Although sections of my fence had sustained damage during a wind storm [Nov 2015] the portions damaged by your trucks stood upright prior to construction. The cedar slats sustained repeated scraping and sufficient force from the trucks side swiping this section that the posts eventually gave way. Some fencing slats on the gate were also broken. Then later the gate posts were snapped off completely. I trust that you will honor your promise to replace or reimburse me the cost of replacing the section of my fence and gate. I am not planning to repair the other portions of my fence until next spring. Please let me know if you plan to repair the fence and gate on your own or to reimburse me the actual replacement costs when I complete the work. One other item remains. The weight of the heavy trucks repeatedly driving on the right shoulder along my property line resulted in a portion of the shoulder becoming compacted below the surface of the alley. You'd informed me after I brought it to your attention that you would fill this sunken area and top it with gravel so it would match the rest of the alley in height and appearance. Please let me know when you plan to complete this. I look forward to your written response. Sincerely, ' V Patricia Andrews Smi cc: Leif Bjorback, Building Official, City of Edmonds V
