Dear Nikki Jackson,
This letter is in response to your letter received on March 27th, 2015 in regards to the expiration of your
building permit for the accessory structure.
I do believe the City has been very understanding with your project. We are now heading into year four
since the first notification of the violation. This is the option you have per the ECDC (Edmonds
Community Development Code) Chapter 19.00.025 Section 105.5 (3):
Prior to expiration of an active permit the applicant may request in writing an extension for an
additional year. Provided there has been at least one (1) required progress inspection conducted by
the city building inspector prior to the extension, the permit shall be extended. Permit fees shall be
charged at a rate of one quarter the original building permit fee to extend the permit.
My suggestion to you is to schedule to have our building inspector come out and talk with you as to
what would be considered a progress inspection in order to meet the requirement to extend an
additional year. Once you have met the requirements and received a progress inspection you can
extend the permit for an additional year. The permit expires on May 91h, 2015.
If the permit is allowed to expire, a new permit application with new fees and fines would apply.
