Obtained one sample of the 1/2" HMA delivered on site from the Cemex Kenmore batch plant for Rice density testing. The laboratory Rice density was 157.1. Approximately 90 tons of asphalt were placed today. The asphalt was placed with a Bomag BF-814 paving machine and compacted with a Bomag BW 120- AD and a Bomag BW 900-50 double -drum with vibrating rollers (see attached Asphalt Field Density Test Report for locations and results). The asphalt met the 91 % compaction specification. approximately Station 303+40. To the best of our knowledge, all items inspected today are in conformance with approved plans and specifications. Contractor used Hitachi EX135UR excavator for digging and (2) Case 580 Super M loaders with backhoes for material handling and one for compaction. Contractor was stuffing and rodding the backfill with the back of a shovel to pack the material around the pipe. A Jumping Jack compactor was then used to compact the pipe bedding area. Contractor then compacted the material with a backhoe plate compactor attachment. Contractor used 5/8" crushed rock in lieu of 1-1/4" CSBC as backfill material. Firm and unyielding conditions were observed. Conducted density reading on 5/8" crushed rock backfill with tests meeting or exceeding the minimum 95% compaction (see attached Soil Field Density Test Report). To the best of our knowledge, all items inspected today are in conformance with approved plans and specifications.
