The following are the responses to the permit plan drawing set comments received from Leif Bjorback,
Building Official at the City of Edmonds, in regard to non- structural elements of the design. Each
revision is shown clouded and enumerated with a triangle symbol #2 on the drawings, as follows
below. Please note that there are also revisions on the site plan A1.0 sheet with a similar call out that
refer to revisions requested by the Planning Division. In addition, the relocation of the Fire Riser Room,
as requested by the Fire Marshal, is also indicated as a #2 revision on A2.1 and A4.0. The owner has
elected to reconfigure the existing restrooms into accessible restrooms rather than build new
restrooms, also shown as #2 on A2.1 and A5.0.
4) Supplemental structural calculations by ARW Engineering, dated February 15, 2019, are
included in this resubmittal to support the Pergola structural design. The wood members to be
treated with wood preservative are indicated on 3/A1.0. The footing depth is noted on 7/A1.0.
7) Per the phone conversation regarding the interconnectivity of the floors as it relates to
accessibility, the agreed upon approach has been documented on the drawings including
deleting the interconnecting stair on sheets A2.1 and A2.3, the addition of an accessible
restroom on the second floor as shown on A2.3, an accessible ramp to the exterior door on the
west side of the building (sheets A1.0, A2.3, and A4.0), and the provision for an accessible
parking stall and route to the west entrance door as depicted on A1.0.
16) Notes to the section drawings on A3.0, A3.1, and A3.2 designate that there is no vapor
barrier on the ceiling, the batt insulation to be positioned and attached at the underside of the
roof sheathing, and rigid insulation to be R-10 minimum.
17) Overflow scuppers are to be sized per the note on A2.5 in accordance with 1101.12.
24) The extent of existing masonry and concrete walls are shown on A2.0 and the extent of
their modification shown on A2.1 as well as where they occur on 2/A3.1.
