Dear Mr. Lund,
I have reviewed the above building permit application for the Planning Division. The following
information is needed to approve the application:
Statement Regarding Accessory Dwelling Unit. The residence as designed could
potentially allow for each floor to function as its own dwelling unit. Essentially, you could
have the main house and an Accessory Dwelling Unit, often referred to as a Mother-In-
Law Apartment. Assuming that is not your intention, please sign the enclosed form, and
submit it to the City of Edmonds. Please note that your signature must be notarized.
If at a later date, you do wish approval for an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU), it will require
a separate permit. Ive also enclosed the general handout, in case you are interested in
receiving approval for an ADU. Then you will be aware of the qualifications.
The Development Services Department is open to the public Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to
noon or 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. You can submit the above Statement in person or via mail. Please
address it to Theresa Umbaugh. If you have any questions about the ADU application process,
feel free to contact me at (425) 771-0220 ext 1330. I work a part-time schedule, and am typically
in the office Mondays, Wednesdays, and every other Friday. Or you may ask for another planner
if I am not available.
