Dear Mr. Fil,
I have reviewed the above building permit application for the Planning Division. The
following information is needed to approve the application:
Environmental Review.
1. The State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA)
requires environmental review for projects which exceed 500 cubic yards of
grading. I have enclosed the materials that you will need to submit.
SEPA Checklist.
a. Fill out the enclosed checklist, and answer the
questions to the best of your ability.
Adjacent Property Owners List.
b. Please follow the directions to
obtain this information from Snohomish County.
Affidavit.
c. Sign the enclosed affidavit referring to the Adjacent
Property Owners list. Your signature must be notarized.
Statement on Accessory Dwelling Units.
2. The lower level of the house could
essentially function as a dwelling separate from the main portion of the house.
The City of Edmonds Development Code refers to it as an Accessory
Dwelling Unit (ADU), which requires approval of a conditional use permit.
Ive enclosed a handout, describing the requirements for approval. It appears
that you could easily meet the requirements. If you want to proceed with
getting approval for an Accessory Dwelling Unit, please contact me, so that I
can provide you with the additional application materials. If you do not want
approval at this time, please submit the enclosed statement.
The Development Services Department is open to the public Monday through Friday,
9:00 am to noon or 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. If you have any questions or concerns, please
feel free to contact me at (425) 771-0220 ext 1330. I work a part-time schedule, and am
typically in the office Mondays, Wednesdays, and every other Friday. Or you may ask
for another planner if I am not available.
