This is an UPDATE to the previous notice you received – the following two changes have been made:

1.The Planning Board public hearing date has been moved from Wednesday June 11 to
th
Wednesday June 18 (same time, same location).
2.The applicant has specified that they would like the language to reflect a height of no more
than three (3) stories (the previous language did not specify a limit to the number of stories).
You are invited to provide public comment on a proposed Comprehensive Plan Amendment. The City has
received an application by A.D. Shapiro Architects, representing Dana Gillet, for a Comprehensive Plan
Amendment to add a new section of text to the Comprehensive Plan. This new section of text would be
specific to the Perrinville neighborhood (shown as “Neighborhood Commercial” on the Comprehensive
Plan map) and would include development goals and policies for future commercial land use in that
neighborhood. The proposed new section contains the following draft language:
In the Perrinville commercial area, development should include an attractive mix of uses that create a
‘neighborhood village’ pedestrian-oriented environment. Commercial spaces shall be oriented toward
the street in order to maximize visibility, and parking should be primarily accommodated either behind
or underneath structures.
Development shall not be more than three (3) stories in height, and the design should focus on
breaking up the mass and bulk of buildings by incorporating such features as setbacks, varying
rooflines, and landscaping into the design of the site. The mix of uses shall incorporate not less than
one quarter commercial space.
There are no development proposals at this time; the only proposal is for an addition of the above text to
the Comprehensive Plan. More detailed information can be found at the City’s website,
www.ci.edmonds.wa.us. At the top of the page, there is a toolbar called “QuickLinks” – choose “Citizens
