Jeannie, thanks for chasing down the viability of the reduced slope of the line
connecting the grease intercepter to the building. The reasons for the variation
of the slope of the line have to do with the phasing of the work, and the eventual
physical placement of the interceptor. During the early phase of the work, we
cast in a sleeve through the foundation that we believed at the time would serve
the anticipated location of the grease interceptor with plenty of "fall" to spare
figuring in the run from the probable kitchen locations of the planned restaurants,
and the likely location of the interceptor. In the final placement, however, we had
to move the interceptor several feet to the south, due to the existing below
grade lines in its planned location that were discovered at excavation. This
discovery increased the run that we had to make exacerbating the reach to the
precast sleeve. This sleeve is cast into a 4' wide concrete footing and simply
isn't realistic to relocate as we do have a resultant workable slope currently in
place.
Regarding the on-going servicing of the unit, I believe that GPA, the Old Milltown
property owner retains an easement in the courtyard that is intended to be sold to
the City. This easement should include access for servicing on a regular basis
which will certainly be the responsibility of the Building owner and their tenant.
Let me know if any of you have any other comments and I will modify and forward
along ...
