Dear Proprietor,
The City received a request for code enforcement regarding the subject property/business noted above. The subject property is located
in the BN Zone (Neighborhood Business).
The complaint is that:
The temporary signs exceed the quantity allowed.
That the monument sign is illuminated after the business is closed or after 11:00 PM.
That the gas pumps or business are operational after 11:00 P.M.
That the wattage in the monument signs exceeds what is necessary to illuminate the sign.
The pertinent Edmonds Community Development Code (ECDC) sections are as follows:

20.60.020 General regulations for permanent signs.
F. No light source which exceeds 20 watts shall be directly exposed to any public street or adjacent property.
H. No commercial sign shall be illuminated after 11:00 p.m. unless the commercial enterprise is open for business and then may
remain on only as long as the enterprise is open. (A Conditional Use Permit is required to extend hours past 11:00 P.M. in the
neighborhood Business Zone - Chapter 16.45.010.C.3.)
20.60.080 Temporary signs.
2. Commercial Zones (BN, BC, CW, CG).
b. Maximum duration of display is 60 days in any calendar year for the cumulative posting of all temporary commercial signage upon
each commercial location or premises.
c. Maximum number of temporary signs is one freestanding sign per property street frontage; and one attached sign per building.

For the purposes of the enforcement of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply:
“Attached sign” is any sign attached or affixed to a building. Attached signs include wall signs, projecting signs, and window signs.
Corrective actions required by February 10, 2007.
Please maintain the permitted quantity of temporary signage (two freestanding and one attached) and maximum duration as
outlined above.
Please turn out the sign lights and suspend the business, including the gas pumps, by 11:00 P.M. (or apply for a
Conditional Use Permit)
Please consider reducing the wattage of the monument sign.
