PARKING MANAGEMENT PLAN.doc KLAHAYA SWIM AND TENNIS CLUB PARKING MANAGEMENT PLAN This proposal is designed to address Klahaya Swim & Tennis Club’s parking needs, specifically on the four or five evenings during the summer months when the Club hosts swim meets or special events. The goal is to minimize inconvenience to our neighbors and surrounding residential community. We propose to do this by (1) maintaining and “optimizing” the parking that exists at the club; (2) utilizing shared parking with nearby facilities; and (3) promoting and supporting carpooling, bicycling and general reduction in the number of cars at swim meets and Club events. The Club will continue to notify its neighbors of the swim meet schedule. 1. Optimizing existing parking: *Issue one parking pass to each member family, resulting in fewer cars parked onsite. Experience shows that member and visiting families attending swim meets arrive at different times in separate vehicles; issuance of one parking pass to each member family addresses this activity and requires a member family’s second vehicle to be parked offsite (see No. 2, below). *Manage parking at special events to make the best use of the Club’s parking lot. 2. Utilizing shared parking with nearby facilities: *The Club has an agreement with Faith Community Church, located directly across the street, to allow overflow parking. This agreement, which has been in place for longer than 10 years, provides 75 spaces, and has accommodated additional parking on evenings when the Club hosts swim meets or other special events. *The Edmonds Homeschool Resource Center, located adjacent to the Club’s northeast boundary, has agreed to allow overflow parking in its lot on specified evenings during the summer (the specific evenings will be known by mid-March every year and noted in a written agreement). The location is a short walk from the Club and provides 208 additional spaces. Flyers, signs, and a staff member at the Club entrance will direct attendees to the overflow parking locations. 3. The Club encourages carpooling to swim meets and special events. Bicycling and walking are also encouraged. The Club does have some members who live close by, within easy walking distance. It should be noted that public transportation to the Club is not a workable option for most, as the local transit schedule is not compatible with the timing of swim meets.
