RE: Plan review for proposed trash enclosure and access to the structure
#2007-1181 PCC Natural Market
Per our conversation on 1/30/08 the following corrections and issues need to be addressed after
comments received from Allied Waste:
The structure of the enclosure needs to be modified for complete access. The south wall will
now be opened to its entirety (minimum 18') and equipped with swing gates having appropriate
drop -pins, etc. for secure positioning. Bollards cannot interfere with gate operation.
The east wall of the enclosure will need an increase of the opening to a minimum of 10'. A
sliding gate could still be used here and there may be some new integration or interaction with
the opening on the north side. The intent is to maximize the accessibility.
The entire structure shall be based upon a concrete slab not to exceed a 2 percent slope.
Per discussion with our Planning and Engineering Divisions, pavement on the south side of the
enclosure shall be extended as far west as the enclosure structure itself. There is no requirement
for landscaping in this zone. Pavement will match grade at the enclosure.
The possibility exists for shortening the northern end of the existing street curb cut, in order to
gain more approach distance for service trucks, which would make it safer. That is, extending
the actual curb further south. This would reduce the total width of the proposed extension of the
existing curb cut but still stay within the requirements by the Engineering Division.
