Attached is the special inspections form with three of the four necessary signatures and below explains why we are asking for a small bending of the rules. I’ve also looped in Craig, our VP of Operations and project manager, who knows all the ins and outs of what we do and may better tell you and the City about our process. As the water proofing consultant and architect Evolution does the weekly observation of the building envelope which makes sure that plans and specifications are followed as drawn and written. It is only for the ‘window water penetration resistance test’ that we hire a consultant (the missing signature) and that will occur several months down the road. Is there a mechanism for the City to allow us to pull the permit and begin work now with the understanding that we will have Intertek come on board well before the windows are ready to be pulled, installed, and tested? I know this is not standard protocol, but we would certainly be happy to talk over the phone or in person about our process and if any work around are possible. I was unclear that there needed to be all four signatures—apologies. The contractor signature is easy, but the special inspector, Intertek, is a bit trickier as we usually do not bring them on until later. Currently, we don’t have a contract with them at this time and it will be difficult to get them to sign without one in place. We are hoping not to lose valuable construction time so is there a way to issue the permit sooner and bring them on concurrently? At this point we are open to any creative solution you may have so we can get started in the next couple weeks. Moving onto the fees, I’ll pass on the new fee amount to the HOA for payment—remind me please, do you require two checks or is one combined sufficient? And lastly, the roof area is 5,021.75 square feet per building or 10,043.5 square feet total. Only the Mansard portion is being replaced, the flat portion is relatively new and does not need replacement. I’ll send you the application, cover sheet, and plans as soon as I can. Again, thanks for all your help as I figure out how to work with the City of Edmonds. The Board at Seacrest finally reviewed the bids and selected a contractor, PBE, for their exterior renovation project. I know I owe you some paperwork before pulling the permit—could you please remind me what that is? And on a different note, I have a follow up question: can we add the mansard portion (the flat portion is only a couple years old) of the roof scope to this permit? Originally we were going to pull a separate roof permit, but we would like to incorporate it with this set, if possible. If that would cause confusion or delay, then it might be simpler to submit a new details and drawings for the roof portion since the building permit is ready to go. Can you please advise?
