Yes, Public Works definitely should send Verizon a bill.
Also, please communicate this problem to Rod Pearson, in writing, include "cc" to me and Duane. We
need to make sure we are documenting all these problems in writing. And, if they continue, we should
hold any more ROW permits again like we did recently.
Thanks,
Dave

FYI
thth
Saturday I came out to check on the traffic control at the 76 and 210 where the Verizon crews had
been working on locating this week after damaging 911 lines last weekend. There are two large
metal plates covering the work area. The plates extend a good part of the street on both sides.
Jaime had spoke with Justin Brown, the Verizon Inspector on this project on Thurs or Fri about the
condition the project was to be left in over the weekend. On Friday they were to have cold mix
around the plates, bump in the road warning signs and motorcycle warning signs in place for the
weekend.
While they did cold mix the edges, the bump is still significant and a hazard to traffic. All the signage
had blown down in the wind so there was no warning to traffic in either direction. I took a look at one
of the signs and there just wasn’t enough weighting there to hold the signs up in the current wind
even if I set them all back up again.
I made calls to the Verizon inspectors, Justin Brown and Greg Southard, with no success and left
messages regarding the problem. There were no Verizon crews in Edmonds today.
I then called Jeanie for direction. She confirmed that it would be considered an emergency safety
issue and told me that would be handled through 911 if there was no way to contact Verizon to take
care of their own work.
I tried the Verizon inspectors a couple more times with no luck.
I called 911 and they will contact street crew to secure the traffic control.
Hopefully they will send Verizon a bill!
I am going to check on it on my way home.
