R & A # 15-163
To whom it may concern,
This office has determined that shear walls (SW-2) & hold downs (T-3) that was
missed or mis-installed in the bottom floor of the referenced project may be retro-
fixed by the following.
Construct shear walls to plan and schedule rising 5/8" diameter expansion anchors
@ 40" O.C. and 4 5/8" minimum embed in lieu of A.B's shown on schedule. Missing
T-3 (STHD14) hold downs at end of shear walls may be retro-fitted by installing a
HDQ8 with (20) SIDS '/4" X 3" screws into double studs at ends of shear walls and a
5/8" diameter threaded rod with 6" minimum embedment into grade beam and SET-
XP epoxy.
Please call this office if you have any questions or require further information.

- When cracked concrete is selected, concrete compressive strength used in concrete breakout strength in tension, adhesive strength in tension
and concrete pryout strength in shear for SET-XP adhesive anchor is limited to 2,500 psi per ICC-ES ESR-2508 Section 5.3.
- Concrete breakout strength in shear has not been evaluated against applied shear load(s) per designer option. Refer to ACI 318 Section
17.3.2.1 for conditions where calculations of the concrete breakout strength may not be required.
Designer must exercise own judgement to determine if this design is suitable.
Refer to manufacturer's product literature for hole cleaning and installation instructions„
