Dear Chuck,

I am writing in response to your plan review comments for this project
(@LD2014-0554) sent July 2, 2014,
There was only one comment:
"On sheet A2:
1. Clarify the calIout for the 'P.T, 4xl2' beam spanning 13 feet 11-1/2 inches
(including one half of the required bearing at each end per NDS) to be used to
support the south end of the deck joists on the east end of the proposed deck. It
appears to be over spanned and fails in bending. Include the size, species/ and
grade of the proposed framing member in -the
response and be sure to account for incising and wet -service per NDS 4.3."
After verifying framing/measurements on site (this deck was constructed during a
residential addition at this address, project 8LD201I-0400),
it was determined that the span is less than originally shown. I have revised the
Lower Level Foundation Plan on sheet A2/ East Elevation on sheet Al, and South
Elevation on sheet Al to show actual conditions.
I have also enclosed structural calculations which demonstrate the pressure -treated
4x12 can carry the load.
Revisions regarding your comment are labeled as revision 2 (in a triangle) on the
drawings. I had previously replied to planning and engineering comments as part of
revision 1.
Please let me know if there is any additional information Z can provide.
