Mr. Miller,
We have received your correction notice for the subject project, dated
August 25th, 2017. Below is an itemized response to you corrections/
questions.
1. Constructions drawings have been stamped and signed by a licensed
architect.
2. RCW 64.55
A. The building enclosure design documents (plans) have been
stamped and signed by a licensed architect. Please also see
the Building enclosure letter provided with the original plans
submission.
B. The special inspection form has been filled out and attached to
this resubmission.
I. Note: The Soltner Group Architects Inc. (SGA) as
recognized building enclosure experts with over 30 years
experience in evaluating, designing, and overseeing
exterior envelope repairs will be performing the role of
special inspector for the property at 500 Elm Way,
Edmonds, Wa. SGA will perform periodic reviews of work
in progress and final reviews of completed work as
required to verify that rehabilitative construction on the
project noted above has been performed in substantial
compliance with the building enclosure design
documents prepared by this firm.
3. Sheet A 1.0: Fire resistivity.
A. The fastener length as part of the one hour rated fire resistive
wall assembly has been changed (from 1-3/4" to 2-1 /4") to
accommodate the thickness of the plywood sheathing as
required.
B. "Existing Heavy Timber Construction" has been removed from
the fire resistivity notes.
4. Sheet A1.0: "Existing Heavy Timber Construction" has been removed
from the construction type notes
5. Sheet A2.0: Callouts have been revised to reference the correct sheet
numbers (2.5 has been changed to 2.2 and 2.6 has been changed to
2.3)

6. Sheet A2.2: Callouts have been revised to reference the correct sheet
numbers (2.6 has been changed to 2.2)
7. Sheet A3.0: Callout has been corrected to read "1
8. Sheet A3.1- Unit Deck Repair Matrix: The notes for Units 102, 103, 104,
105, 106, 107, &109 have been revised to describe the scope and
removed reference to sheet A3.4
9. Sheet A3.1- Detail 1: Note for purlin spacing has been revised to (64")

10. Sheet A3.1- Detail 2: Note for purlin spacing has been revised to (64")
OC. Reference to specific Purlin sizing has been removed.
11. Sheet A3.1- Detail 3: Note for purlin spacing has been revised to (64")
OC.
12. Sheet A3.2- Detail 5: Reference to specific Purlin sizing has been
removed.
13. Sheet A3.3: Reference to specific Purlin spacing has been removed.
14. Sheet A3.5- Detail 7: Callouts have been changed from 3/- to 8/- & 4/-
to 9/-
15. Sheet A3.5- Detail 10: Callouts for sheet A3.4 have been removed.
Associated notes have been revised to clarify scope.
16. Sheet A3.7- Section 2: Callout has been removed. Other notes and
callouts elsewhere on this section are applicable to this area and
original callout was unnecessary.
17. Sheet A3.7- Detail 3: Blank callouts have been revised to reference
details 5/(A)3.7 and 7/(A)3.7.
18. Sheet A3.7- Detail 6: Callout has been revised to read 1 /(A)3.0
19. Sheet A3.9: Callouts for sheet A3.4 have been removed. Associated
notes have been revised to clarify scope.
20. Sheet A3.10: Callout has been changed to reference sheet A3.0
Items 21-23 to be addressed by engineer in attached response.
On this date revised plan sheets with these changes have been resubmitted
to Edmonds Development Services. All revisions are clouded and identified
as Revision 1. We look forward to your expedient review and approval.

Dear Mr. Miller:
This letter is intended to address comments raised by the City of Edmonds during the review of the Highland Park
Condominiums Repair project, building 550. Specifically we will address comments regarding the structural sheets.
Below you will find each comment, followed by a response from DEI.
21. Sheet S3.0 — Detail 11 — Typical Deck Beam Splice — Provide on the plans a 'general note', or reference
where applicable, to the provided detail to guide its proper use, the work to be performed, and the inspection
of the work.
Additional notes have been added to details 11S3.0 & 11/S3.0 to clarify where the beam splice is to
be used.
22. Sheet S3.1 — Detail 4 — Guardrail Corner Connection — Plan View — Provide on the plans a 'general note', or
reference where applicable, to the provided detail to guide its proper use, the work to be performed, and the
inspection of the work.
A note has been added to the detail to clarify where the corner connection is to be used.
Additionally, detail cuts have been added to sheets S2.2 & S2.3 which show typical locations where
the corner connection is to be used.
23. Sheet S3.1 — Detail 7 — Typical Thru-Floor Connection at Flush Wall — Change on the plans the identified
detail referenced as an alternative from '7/S3.0'to'l1/S3.1'.
The note has been changed to reference 11/S3.1 as originally intended.
Additionally, DEI believes that comment #23 for project BLD2017-0969 may have been intended for this project.
Therefore, references to existing beam sizes have been removed from details 3/S3.0 and 4/S3.0 to avoid conflicts
with existing conditions.
