Please find below our itemized responses to each respective comment and department. Each item addressed was clouded on the respective plan sheet. 1) Please provide calculations and design details for the seismic anchorage of rooftop equipment weighing more than 400 pounds. (all RTU's and MUA-1) The documents must be stamped and signed by a Washington State licensed engineer. Response: See attached calculations and details by structural engineer. 2) On the HVAC floor plans, please show reference callouts for the applicable details that are shown on sheets M4.0 and M4.1 Response: Please see HVAC floor sheets. Missing callouts and notes have been added to HVAC floor sheets to incorporate missing detail callouts. 3) The notes on sheet M1.0 state that smoke fire dampers are to be installed where ducts penetrate fire and smoke rated assemblies, and there appear to be a large number of these locations. Please show these locations on the HVAC floor plans, including ceiling dampers, either by symbol, notation or referenced callouts. Response: All HVAC plans have been modified to show smoke, fire, or smoke/fire dampers in needed locations. 4) Add a note on the plans that the med gas system is to be verified by a third party agency according to UPC 1327. 116 E. Fir Street, Suite A Mount Vernon, WA 98273 (360) 4 2 4 - 0 3 9 4 FAX (360) 424-5726 2014-0659 Prestige Care Mechanical Permit Corrections Response July 28, 2014 Response: Please see sheet M1.1 for the added notes on the medical gas system. 5) Please indicate which fixtures will require backflow prevention devices and what devices will be used. UPC 103.2.2 and 603.1 Response: There will be a main reduced pressure backflow preventer when the city water enters the building. There are also vacuum breakers on the hose bibs. No other backflow prevention devises are needed. 6) Add a note as to the location of the reference key and equipment schedule for the circled callouts in the kitchen, or include the information on sheet M2.2. Response: See sheet M2.2 for added schedule of kitchen equipment. 7) Please provide an enlarged/enhanced kitchen drainage plan. Revise the drainage plan to discharge fixtures into the grease interceptor or directly to sanitary sewer as appropriate, and according to comments from Les Krestel, Wastewater Treatment Technician. Response: An enlarged plan has been added to sheet M2.2 that shows the kitchen drain lines in more detail. 8) What is symbol "MAP/1" shown in Nurse Station 130? Response: MAP is for the Medical gas alarm panel. A detail has also been added to sheet M4.1. 9) A type 2 exhaust hood is required over the warewasher. Provide details and CFM for this hood. IMC 507.2.2. Response: The model of dishwasher specified is considered "ventless" by the manufacturer. The equipment uses cold water to condense water vapor as an end cycle. The load has also been incorporated into the HVAC system serving the kitchen. 10) Clearly show the locations of the kitchen exhaust hoods on the plans. I suggest this information would be helpful if shown on sheets M3.2 and FS1. Response: The exhaust hood has now been outlined on sheet M3.2, and a leader note has been added. 11) The med gas room is shown to be exhausted by a 50 CFM fan through a "6x4 wrapped duct up to roof cap." Please provide a design for the "wrap" to show how it complies with the shaft requirement of IMC 502.9.1. CARLETTI ARCHITECTS, P.S. 2014-0659 Prestige Care Mechanical Permit Corrections Response July 28, 2014 Response: Please see sheet M4.1 for a new detail on the 1-hour fire wrapping of the exhaust duct. The note on sheet M3.2 has also been modified. 12)Provide a supply duct to the med gas room complying with the requirements of IMC 502.9.1. Response: See sheet M3.2 that shows a new diffuser and fire damper. 13)On the roof plan, provide at least 10 feet of separation between the kitchen exhaust fans and any other equipment with air intake, or show how it meets the exception to IMC 506.3.13.3. Response: A circle with a 10 foot radius has been added to the exhaust fans to show the 10 foot separation between exhaust fans and outside air intakes of equipment. 14)The size of the dryer exhaust duct on the roof plan does not match that in detail 6/M4.0. Please coordinate. Response: Detail 6/M4.0 has been modified to match what is shown on other pages of the set. Detail 6/M4.0 has also been modified for the addition of a third dryer. 15)How will the grease ducts be separated from combustible material as per the IMC 506.3.6? The note on detail 5/M4.1 states: "See Captive Aire detail on MX.XX for duct detail' but a detail is not provided. Please clarify. Response: Additional information has been added to sheet M4.4. Please see attached specifications of double wall duct. 16)Drawing #2 on M4.2 notes "1 inch layer of insulation meets 0 inch requirements for clearance to combustible surfaces." Please provide the mechanical code section or other approved agency listing to show how this detail complies with IMC 507.9. Response: Captive Aire has supplied a clearance to combustibles testing report and listing information. Please see attached documentation. 17)The appliances under the Type 1 hood are listed as a gas range, boiler, griddle, and oven, and these appear to be medium duty or even high duty appliances by definitionin IMC 202, and need at least 300 CFM or 400 CFM, respectively. Please clarify, and modify the plans as needed. IMC 507,13 CARLETTI ARCHITECTS, P.S. 2014-0659 Prestige Care Mechanical Permit Corrections Response July 28, 2014 Response: The Captive Aire hood is UL710 listed. Per the 2012 International Mechanical Code section 507.1 Exception #1: factory built commercial exhaust hoods that are listed and labeled in accordance with section 304.1 shall not be required to comply with sections - 507.4,507.5,507.7,507.11,507.12,507.13,507.14, and 507.15.
