RESPONSE TO PRE-TREATMENT COMMENTS.pdf4 401 Ma Tristan Van Slyke b.hills architecture, P.C. 404 S. 8"' St. Suite 201 Boise, Idaho 83702 March 30, 2015 Mr. Les Krestel Pretreatment Technician City of Edmonds 121 5"' Ave. North Edmonds, WA 98020 RE: Pretreatment Division Plan Review Permit Application BLD2015-0228 WinCo Foods Store No. 136 21900 Highway 99 Edmonds, WA 98026 Dear Les: t We appreciate your time in reviewing our plans and providing your comments on March 6, 2015. Please see our response below and the attached, revised, drawings and supplementary documents. Let me know at your earliest convenience if you have any questions or need any additional information. 1) The plans indicate that the proposed grease collection device will be a 2, 000 gallon gravity grease interceptor (GGI) for this location. This size tivas previously discussed ivith DC Engineering and has been appy-oved with a quarterly pump out frequency. Response: A 2000 gallon gravity grease interceptor is indicated on the drawings. The Building Owner will pump out the grease interceptor quarterly. 2) For Pretreatment to sign off, a detailed cut sheet showing the proposed GGI for- this location will be required. Response: A cut sheet of the proposed Oldcastle Precast Grease Interceptor is included with this letter. 3) The GGI should have: ® 6"PVC lines ® Proper venting allowing free air exchange bettiveen both chambers ® Brackets supporting all down legs in GGI It is very important to secure the dolvnlegs to the vazdt walls; it may prevent costly repairs in the fittarre. It is recommended to use stainless steel unistrut bar- and 6" clamps to secure pipe. ® Speciijic for• traffic - if applicable ® Graded away from the manholes to prevent runoff f -om entering the GGI ® Man hole covers above each downleg for inspection and maintenance ® Sampling .station 1) i "f, I i dr'iIIa 8 3 f()2 1 I:- 208 25 61` O I f ?oft %5 1 1 (7( Response: The items mentioned above are included on the Grease Interceptor detail, attached sheet P5, detail 16, and on attached sheet SDI, keyed note #16. 4) The plans indicate that all three compartments of the three -comp sinks are directed to the grease drain. Please follow The Health Department standards for isolating the sanitize sink from the GGI. Response: Per discussions with Elaine Hagedorn from Snohomish County Health Department and yourself, it will not be necessary to separate the sink compartments to grease and to sanitary. All sink compartments from the three compartment sinks will drain to the grease interceptor. 5) The plans indicate that hard sink drains are directed to both the grease drain arad the sanitary drain. All hand sink drains are to be directed to the sanitary drain and not enter the GGI. Response: Attached plumbing sheets P3.1 and P4.1, have been revised to direct all hand sink drains to the sanitary drain. 6) Please be same to incorporate these changes in the resubmittal. Response: Changes have been incorporated in the resubmittal. 7) It is recommended that screens or strainers be installed in all floor sinks that drain into the GGI. This reduces the sediment loading in the GGI and blockages due to debris that may fall into the floor sink such as latex gloves, straws, plastic utensils, and other such items. Response: Per the Plumbing Fixture Schedule on sheet P4: Trench drains connected to the GGI will be equipped with a dome strainer; floor drains connected to the GGI will be equipped with a slotted sediment bucket; floor sinks connected to the GGI will be equipped with a strainer. We have addressed all of your comments and hope that approval for permit will be granted upon receipt of this letter with attached, revised, drawings and supplementary documents. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any additional questions or concerns. Respectfully, Tristan B.
