ENGINEERING DIVISION
CITY OF EDMONDS
Please show sidewalk closure for the proposed work locations and pedestrian detour signage per MUTCD
standards. - Pedestrian escort added to TCP, no need to close sidewalk.
- The TCP's submitted show two lane closure on both northbound and southbound Hwy 99. Is there a reason
that the work cannot be completed with a single lane closure? - Both closures are needed to complete the
crossing of HWY 99, from pole to pole.
- There appear to be sufficient distances after each intersection for the required tapers, so as the
northbound taper would start north of 224th and the southbound taper would start south of 2201h. Please verify
the taper distances for each respective direction are in accordance with MUTCD standards and modify the TCP
accordingly. - Per our traffic engineer "There is only about 570' to the pole on the West side of
Pacific Hwy from 220th St SW and about 830' from the pole on the East side of Pacific Hwy to
224th St SW. If we are doing a proper double lane closure (according to the WSDOT typicals)
then there isn't enough space to do it in between the intersections so the way we have it is
correct. At 11' lanes, 45 MPH, an L distance should be 495'. When you close 2 lanes it is
supposed to be an L taper, then a 2L distance of parallel cones, then another L taper for a total
distance of 1,980'."

Good afternoon,
The City has the following comments on the resubmitted TCP:
- Please show sidewalk closure for the proposed work locations and pedestrian detour signage per MUTCD
standards.
- The TCP's submitted show two lane closure on both northbound and southbound Hwy 99. Is there a reason that
the work cannot be completed with a single lane closure?
