RE: MINOR REVISION TO APPROVED LANDSCAPING PLAN AT 303 HOWELL
WAY AND 417 3RD AVENUE
Dear Mr. Hyldahl:
In your letter dated May 5, 2008, you requested a minor revision to the approved landscaping
plan for 303 Howell Way and 417 3rd Avenue, the site of the Sound View and Olympic View
apartments. The landscaping plan for the site (ADB -07-95) was recently been approved by staff
but the current request is to remove an additional Douglas Fir tree along 3rd Avenue adjacent to
the Olympic View Apartment building.
The documents submitted indicate the proposed Douglas Fir removal on an updated Landscape
Demolition and Trimming Plan (L1.0) in Note 8. The updated Landscape Planting Plan (L2A)
indicates that this area will be replanted with like landscaping as was previously approved for
along 3rd Avenue — a mixture of shrubs along with the inclusion of an additional Bowhall Maple.
Staff approves the proposed revision and finds it to be in keeping with the previously approved
landscaping plan as well as satisfying the appropriate portions of the Edmonds Community
Development Code (ECDC 20.12) and the Comprehensive Plan.
