RE:Plan review for solid waste collection area
PLN 20190013 – JAS Group LLC, 21200 72nd Ave. W, Edmonds
In regards to the proposed solid waste collection, per the Level 1 plan, I note the outdoor trash staging area adjacent to the interior trash room. Comments from the solid waste service
providers brought up concern for the following:
The staging area may not be ample enough to provide efficient service depending on the size of the containers in use, both garbage and recycle.
Echoing comments from city engineering, will there a curb cut for the trucks to pull off the travel lane of 72nd Avenue and how can the orientation of the staging area be improved to
interface with the curb cut?
Is there a scenario where drivers can have access to the immediate interior of the trash room, in the interest of efficiency?
Is a compactor unit of some type still being considered, and if so, how will it get serviced?
It is agreed that this scenario of a staging area for front-load type containers is how this plan’s waste service will work. The details will need to be tailored to accommodate access
and increase safety.
