Subject: UNOCAL PIER REMOVAL — REQUEST FOR SHORELINE EXEMPTION
Dear Mr. Fordjour:
The City of Edmonds Planning Division has reviewed your letter dated June 18, 2008, requesting
exemption from the requirement to obtain a Shoreline Substantial Development Permit (SDP) for
the purposes of removing the old Unocal pier in advance of the Edmonds Crossing Project.
According to your letter, approximately 530 creosote treated wood piles and 3 1, 000 square feet
of overwater coverage will be removed, enhancing the local marine environment.
Upon review of the information provided, which included an associated Joint Aquatic Resources
Permit Application (DARPA), the City has concluded that the proposed work is exempt from the
need to obtain a Shoreline Substantial Development Permit pursuant to WAC Sections 173-27-
040(2)(m).
If the scope or timing of the project changes substantially, please let us know.
Sincerely,
j}
