Eagle Eye Consulting Engineers, PS Comments
Dear Mr. Bjorback,
Cosco Fire Protection has revised the following submitted items to address the comments on the
Eagle Eye Consulting Engineer’s submittal review letter dated December 18, 2014:
Ambulatory Care Addition
1.Revised plans show all fire rated walls and UL Assembly Details for fire stopping methods
at piping penetrations are included in our revised material submittals. These details will
be provided to our field personnel.
2.Clearance requirements for pipes passing through walls and floors have been added inthe
design notes on Sheet FP-01.
3.A branchline restraint detail has been added on each sheet.
4.The dry system volume calculation has been added to sheet FP-03.
5.The air supply from the riser mounted air compressor will be available at all times and will
meet the requirements of NFPA 13 – 7.2.6.2.
6.Sidewall sprinklers were shown in the elevator pit. The elevator shaft is non-combustible
but the elevator is hydraulic.
7.A sprinkler is not required at the top of the elevator shaft because it is qualifies as non-
combustible construction and the elevator car enclosure meets the requirements of ASME
A17.1.
8.All shafts are non-combustible and meet NFPA 13 – 8.15.2.
9.A drain hub is provided by others for the fire sprinkler riser main drain and complies with
NFPA 13 – 8.16.2.4.4.
10.A pipe stand detail has been added to Sheet FP-03.
11.The Tyco TY-FRB (TY3131) was included in the previous material submittal on the
same data sheet as the Tyco TY-FRB (TY3231) pendent sprinkler. The Viking Standard
Response Dry Pendent (VK163) was replaced with the Victaulic FireLock V36 (V3608)
Quick Response Dry Pendent.
12.Manufacturer information for the for the hose valves, gauges, and alarm initiating devices
are included in the revised material submittal.
13.Hilti HDI and HDI-P drop in anchors will not be used. Kwik Bolt 3 expansion anchors
will be used and data sheets are included in the revised material submittal.
14.The hydraulic placard on Sheet FP-06 has been revised to match the hydraulic
calculations.
15.A four-way brace will be provided on each side of the seismic separation assembly as
required by NFPA 13 – 9.3.3.3.
16.A seismic joint does not occur at the second floor bridge and a seismic assembly is not
required.
17.Flexible Hose Fittings:
48” flexible hose fittings will be used on this project, however if a longer hose fitting is
required, they will not exceed 72”.
Most of the flexible hose fittings will be installed on a 1” primary drop but flexible hose
fittings directly connected to branchlines shall have a label as specified by NFPA 13 –
9.2.1.3.3.4.
Existing Hospital Tenant Improvement
18.The sprinkler supports and sway bracing in areas where new sprinklers are added or
relocated shall meet the requirements of Chapter 9 of NFPA 13.
19.All existing sprinklers will be replaced and not used. A note has been added on all sheets
where existing sprinklers are to be relocated.
