STF20090006, Plumbing Permit #2009-0138
Dear Mr. Aleman:
The Office of the City Building Official is in receipt of the written request for Alternate Materials and
Methods of Construction Equivalency dated March 16, 2009 per Section 301.2 of the 2006 Uniform
Plumbing Code, made on your behalf by Alex Abossein, PE. The request is for use of circuit venting
as part of an Engineered Plumbing System in accordance UPC Appendix L 7.0 at Taco Time
Restaurant located at 23904 Highway 99, Edmonds, WA.
After review of the information provided by your engineer, it is my determination as Building Official
for the City of Edmonds that the circuit venting system is approved as shown on approved plumbing
plan sheet P-2 of 3 dated 316109 as allowed under Section 301.2 of the Uniform Plumbing Code.
Sincerely,

Request for Alternate Material and Methods of Construction Equivalency
Dear Ms. Bullis
We are requesting approval of Alternate Materials and Methods of Construction
Equivalency per 2006 UPC 301.2 for the above named project. This request is specifically
for Circuit Venting designed in accordance with UPC Appendix L 7.0 and is exclusive to
this project for this site only and shall not set precedent for any other project.
Due to the shallow site sewer available and the need to locate floor drains toward the center
of aisles away from walls it is not possible to install conventional vents in compliance with
UPC requirements. It is not possible to take vent connections off above the centerline of the
floor drains without lowering the level of the trap and waste line. Lowering the trap and
waste line from floor drains would push the sewer main below the level of the available site
sewer invert elevation.
The design of this system has been done with the full knowledge and approval of the
building owner and this request is made on his behalf.
me, if any additional questions or information is needed.
