Dear Mr. Murakami,

After review of your request for technical infeasibility from accessibility requirements for
Door No. 5 shown on Sheet A3.1 of approved plans under building permit BLD2007-
0315, the request to keep the existing 32 inch door is hereby granted due to the presence
of existing structural elements that prevent full code compliance.

The general contractor for the €2atelco Properties Tenant Improvement at Harbor View
Plaza has brought to our attention an unforeseen structural condition that will pose
complications for the widening of Door No. 5 (refer to Sheet A3.1). Upon removing the
existing door and frame, the General Contractor, Mike Motland, of Possibilities Unlimited
has uncovered structural tie -downs at each jamb of the existing doorway. in reviewing the
original documents, it is our opinion that it is technically infeasible to remove these hold
downs, as it will pose structural implications to the integrity of the existing structure.
In light of these unforeseen conditions, we are requesting that you allow the existing door
width of thirty-two inches to remain. Per section 104 of the IBC, we are requesting that you
review and approve this modification.
Please do not hesitate to contact me it you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Stephen Murakami,
