The following submittal has been evaluated under the 2003
International Codes.
1. Add general note: “I-4 occupancy requires IFC 903.3.1.1(NFPA 13) fire sprinkler
system (IFC 903.2.5)”
2. Delete “Top Floor (13-R)” reference from plan title.
3. Add general note “Top floor separate dwelling has been approved for design
calculation equivalent to 13R residential flow requirements.”
4. Hydraulic calculations for lower level daycare shows less than one psi difference
between available (81.88 psi) and required pressure (80.99 psi) at water supply
analysis. Increase this differential to no less than 10% by increasing water supply
pipe size and/or replacing with lower flow sprinklers.
5. Increase hose stream allowance to 150 gpm (lower level daycare) to recognize
typical pre-connected 1 ¾ “ firefighter hoseline.
6. Fire connection permit is required for the installation of the underground supply for
your fire protection system. Underground design must be stamped by registered
PE or a Level III (WA) fire sprinkler contractor AND the installer must also stamp the
(dedicated FP supply) plans. The installer must be either Level III or Level “U” fire
sprinkler contractor licensed by the State or a licensed plumber for a multi-purpose
supply. Provide three copies of plans showing all valves, backflow devices, vault
location, post indicating valve, fire department connection and piping to include size
and material, hydraulic calculations, thrust blocking with calculations, pipe bury
depth and any and all other materials used and their fire protection listings.

7. Add a pendant in stairway or clarify sufficient coverage as designed.

8. Move FACP to lower daycare level and next to sprinkler riser. The upper level will
be a dwelling unit separated from the daycare use.
9. Move pull station and keypad to main daycare entrance.
10. You may delete rate of rise detectors in lower and upper levels due to fire sprinkler
protection.
11. You may delete automatic smoke detectors from top floor dwelling and install
hardwired smoke alarms interconnected with battery backup where required.
12. Maintain waterflow and supervisory switching duty, notification throughout useable
spaces and remote monitoring.
