RE: Plan review for required trash collection area
PLN20160054 — Westgate Village mixed use building, 10032 Edmonds Way
After receiving comments from the waste hauling company that will be servicing this building
and adjacent businesses, it has been determined by staff that the 5 proposed parking spaces
directly adjacent to the reconfigured existing trash enclosure need to be eliminated.
Access and maneuverability of the service trucks can only be accomplished with having that area
more open and able to permit safe movement of trucks and wheeled containers. The safest
scenario is likely one that has trucks approaching the enclosure, turning into the now -open area
and entry drive to the parking garage, and then backing a short distance behind the near corner of
the existing pharmacy building. This ensures safe servicing for these front -load vehicles while
maintaining an unobstructed access to the new building's parking garage for tenants.
With the elimination of the said parking spaces, there is additional room to improve/enlarge the
footprint of the enclosure which requires the gated side to be able to open clearly across its
width. Three existing waste containers along with an undetermined number of staged containers
brought out from the new building need to be housed together. However, garbage and recycle
are serviced at separate times, thus any container needs to remain unblocked or not stacked one
behind another.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
