Bob,
Your request for an alteration of the occupant load in the banquet room is approved by the Building
Department and the Fire Department. Thank you for spelling it out so clearly. Please provide a copy of
this message on the job site to show the building inspector and the fire marshal.

Leif,
We are about to order the Occupancy Limit sign for the Banquet Room (Room 104). The room size is
3,304 s.f.. The space is currently called out at 15 s.f. per person, appropriate for pure banquets, but
there will also be times where general seating might be used such as a conference seating. This would
be more in tune with a 7s.f. per person load. Based on that number our Occupant Load would be 472,
we would be required 2 exits( IBC Table 1018.1), as we currently provide. The required exit width would
be .15per occupant (IBC Table 1005.1 sprinkled building). So, based on the occupant load, the
”-
required width calculation would look like this:
(472 occupants/2 exits) * 0.15 =35.4of width
”
Each exit has 36wide doors with panic hardware. There is also an additional marked exit that is 72
””
wide. The first 2 doors are separated per code.
We seek the approval of the Building Department and the Fire Department to post the occupant load at
472 in Room 104. Please review and comment.
Thanks,
Bob Bozorth
