Hello April,
With careful consideration of the Governess order and the understanding that you (homeowner) will
be performing the work that and have the ability to be inspected while observing all the appropriate
social distancing parameters, we will be able to proceed with the permitted project. The Pre Con
meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, which will most likely be a phone conversation.
We are looking forward to working with you and as always feel free to contact us with any questions.
Best,

Thank you, Eric, for your kindness, and thank you, Leif, for reviewing our situation. I neglected to mention
that our garage is currently separated from our living space by an exterior door and is open to the outside
air. Any inspector would not be in contact with us and I can speak to him/her from our front porch to
maintain appropriate social distance.
Thank you again,
April

Hi, Eric--
Thanks to Denise's efforts, the city fast-tracked our plan review as we are renovating the
garage so that my elderly mother can come live with us during this pandemic. My dad
died in January, and she is alone in her home, so we started the project 4 months early
so we can care for her should she become ill.
Is there a way for our project to qualify as "essential"? We want to follow city guidelines
on this, but need to get the room finished for my mother.
All we need to do is pour a footer, build a wall, insulate, put in a vapor barrier and sleeper
floor, and finish out the room. We have all the supplies we need, but just need a pre-
inspection of the garage slab so we can move forward. We have renovated 7 houses
over the last 20 years, so have experience with all this, and hope there is a way we can
proceed.
We are happy to send detailed photos, etc. if that is an option during this unusual time.
Thank you for anything you can do to help us help my mom.

It is a simple installation of one wall and a window to replace the space where the garage
door used to be.

Rick,
Currently the city is not performing inspections on projects that are not deemed
“essential” in accordance with the Governors stay in place order, which was
issued last week. Once the order has been lifted we will resume inspections.

Hi Eric—
I just tried to call in the pre-con inspection for this remodel, I left a message with
the pertinent information and the request for someone to come out to the house
on Thursday afternoon, but the message on from your office stated you were
only doing inspections on critical construction, or words to that effect.
Can you clarify what’s happening with your office and home remodel
inspections?
Thanks for your help!
Regards
Rick

April,
At this time, even with the emergency ruling issued yesterday. Inspections are
still being performed, except for occupied homes, those are in a case by case
basis. We have not made it standard practice to accept photos without previous
approval.
When you are ready for inspections, please schedule and we will work with you
to proceed.
Thank you,

Hi, Denise. I hope you are well and managing OK during this time.
Now that the city is sheltering in place, can we do inspections by photo/email since our
project is so straightforward?
Thank you!
April
