II STRUCTURAL OBSERVATION REPORT II
Project: Mock Residence Slope Stabilization
Purpose: Structural Evaluation
Location: 21100 88th PI West
Date: August 5, 2019
CG Project: 18295.10
Report: 2
Client: Darrin Mock
General Contractor: Unknown
Field Rep: Morgan Kruse, PE
PURPOSE AND SCOPE
A field representative of CG Engineering was on site on July 25, 2019 to observe the rebar reinforcing
for approximately 30'-0" of grade beam prior to concrete placement. Prior to our site visit,
approximately 45'-0" of a 75'-0" total length grade beam had been poured and completed. The
remaining 30'-0" was formed and ready for concrete placement at the time of our visit.
EXISTING BUILDING
The existing building is a single family residential structure that had experienced settlement to the
downhill side. The existing rockery wall at the edge of the rear patio was removed and will be replaced
with an allan block and geogrid wall system supported by a concrete grade beam. The concrete patio
slab will then be replaced with a new structural slab. At the time of our site visit, part of the grade
beam was completed and the remaining length of grade beam was formed and ready for the concrete
mix to be placed.
OBSERVATIONS & RECOMMENDATIONS
1. Grade Beam Reinforcin>? —The footing reinforcing appears to conform to the permitted
structural drawings dated 11/21/18. All reinforcing was installed per the structural details. The
concrete grade beam was formed with additional height to accommodate the existing grade
and additional reinforcing was provided to account for the additional concrete area. Note that
the concrete grade beam was poured 2'-0" wide continuously rather than 1'-4" continuous with
2'-0" square footings beneath the pin pile supports.
2. Pin Pile Encasement — The contractor is pouring a non-structural concrete plinth encasement
around the steel pipe piles above the grade beam to the slab above. This encasement is non-
structural and does not need reinforcing.
