During a review of the plans by the Building Division for compliance with the applicable building
codes, it was found that the following information, clarifications, or changes are needed. Reviews by
other divisions, such as Planning, Engineering, or Fire, may result in additional comments that
require attention beyond the scope of this letter. Items that recur on this list appear in italics.
Sheet S1.0:
1. Plans state 2” plate washer being used. Use 3” x 3” washers in all typical locations.
R602.11.1 Wall Anchorage for All Buildings in Seismic Design Categories D0, D1 and D2 and
Townhouses in Seismic Design Category C
2. Plate washers, not less than 0.229 inch by 3 inches by 3 inches (5.8 mm by 76 mm by 76 mm)
in size, shall be provided between the foundation sill plate and the nut except where approved
anchor straps are used.
Sheet S 1.1:
3. A special inspection will be required for dowel and epoxy locations where existing
foundation meets new foundation.
4. Notes states 12” depth. City of Edmonds frost depth is 18”, change note on plans

5. Plans state the headers will be “built up”. Show type of materials used. Also include how
these members are connected together.

Sheet 1.3:
6. Floor plans shows horizontal line with no identification as to what it is or made of. Please
identify what this is.
Please submit to a Permit Coordinator 2 sets of revised plans/documents, including a written
response letter that is in itemized letter format. Indicate where the ‘clouded’ or otherwise highlighted
changes can be found on the revised plans. Upon receipt the re-submittal will be routed for review(s).
Resubmittals must be made at the Development Services Department on the 2nd Floor of City Hall.
Permit Center hours are M, T, Th, & F from 8am-4:30pm and from 8:30am-12pm on Wednesdays.
