Please submit revised plans/documents including a written response to each item below. City of Edmonds handouts, standard details, application and other forms, and development code may be referenced on the City website: www.edmondswa.gov under Services/Permits and Development. CONSTRUCTION PLANS 1. The city requires a clear zone of 10' from the travel lane. Please show a minimum 10' separation from the travel lane on 80th Ave W and the new pole. Please explain if this cannot be achieved. Ans: The 10' separation cannot be achieved for the following reasons: (1) there is a customer's wood fence approximately 10 feet away from the edge of the traveled lane. (2) The new guy pole needs an anchor to hold it in place which means that the guypole location cannot be all the way to the fence line. The proposed location of the anchor is already abutting to the existing fence. (see picture below) e way, Snohomish County has just revised their requirement to be just 3 feet away lane on r 25 mph or less like residential roads) 4-15 CLEAR ZONE AND FIXED OBJECTS See Standard Drawin -010, 3-020, 3-040, 3-050 A. General 1. The clear zone widths for public roa determined in accordance with Chapter 1600 of the WSDOT n M n cept the clear zone widths for: Urban local access residential roads with a speed of 25 mph or less is 3 feet. ocal access and sub -collector roads with a volume of 400 A less and a posted speed of 35 moh or less is 6 feet. m. Rural sub -collector roads with a volume greater than 400 ADT and a posted speed of 3S mph or less is 8 feet. 2. Please ensure that the new pole has a minimum 5' separation from city utilities (Sewer, Water and Storm Drainage). Ans: The pole will be about 8 feet away from the existing Storm drain. & As far as the distance from the water, it will be about 4 feet away. The reason that the new guy pole cannot move any further east: (1) The existing anchor is in the way. (2) I must maintain a certain distance between the pole and the anchor otherwise, the mechanical purpose of the anchor will be useless or greatly diminished. (3) As mentioned above, there is a fence that borders the customer property line. (see picture below) Conclusion: This is really the best location that I can determine which will move the Guy pole away from the traveled lane but not the 10 feet as set by the City. Also, I cannot move the new pole and anchor location North or South due to the angle of the OH 3phase pole that is being backed up. I hope this answers your questions and I really would like to meet with you onsite to discuss any further questions you might have. (w/ proper social distancing precautions of course)
