2019- 1076 ESGDesign - Field Revision1 - Schwab Deck Ryan Quinn February 5, 2020 MasterDecks, LLC 16190 59th Ave NE, Suite 215 Arlington WA 98223 RE: Schwab Deck 614 7th Ave S., Edmonds, WA Structural Field Changes: Modify Footing Size & Bearing Capacity Dear Mr. Quinn – This letter is being provided to document the structural changes requested in the installation of the proposed new deck footing pads at 614 7th Ave S., Edmonds, WA.. The following structural changes have been reviewed and are approved: a) Revise Size of (2) New Deck Support Footings: Per the original design plans, a set of (2) new concrete footings were shown in detail SK2 of the plan set. The footings were sized as 14” x 14” x 14” deep (12” below grade), using an allowable design bearing capacity of 1500psf. You have recently informed our office that an existing gravel “dry well” has been discovered on site at the location of one of the proposed footings. And that the local Edmonds building codes require that footings be installed to a frost depth of 18” below grade. In order to resolve both of these conditions, we have re-sized the proposed footings using a reduced bearing load capacity of 500psf. The following revised footing sizes are approved:  Use new 24” x 24” x 18” deep pad footings Provide (2)#4 bars each way at the bottom of the footings Provide (4)#4 hooked vertical dowels extending into the adjacent patio slab per attached revised detail SK2.1 I trust that the information above provides the structural changes necessary to resolve the issue noted.
