elevations shown. Compacted fill shall be well -graded granular fill with not more than
5% passing a #200 sieve. Fill shall be placed in eight inch maximum loose lifts and
compacted to 95% maximum dry density as determined by the compaction procedure in
ASTM D-1557.
CONCRETE:

of 5&I.2 sacks of cemenr per cubic yard of concrete, and a maximum of 6&3'4 gallons
of water per 94 pound sack of cement. A standard mix design satisfying the above
minimum strength is also acceptable. Provide mix design data to the engineer for review
and approval.
Add plastocrete or pozzolith in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations to
all concrete except footings. Concrete protection for reinfancing:

All concrete in footings and walls, slabs and beams shall be poured in a tmonolithic pour
unless shown otherwise or approved by the structural engineer or record prior to pouring,
Aluminum conduit and accessories shall not be embedded in any concrete.
REINFORCING STEEL:
Deformed billet steel ASTM A-615, Grade 60, fs 24,000 psi unless noted otherwise on
the plans. Lap all splices a minimum of 40 bar diameters. Provide elbow bars at wall
comers and intersections to splice horizontal bars. Provide two #5 bars around all
openings with a minimum dimension of eleven (11) inches or greater in walls and slabs.
Extend the bars 2'-0" beyond openings or as far as possible and book. Provide one #5 X
4'-0" center diagonal bar at comers. Any welded wire fabric (WWF) shall conform to
ASTM 185. W WF shall be lapped one erosswire plus two inches (i.e., 8" for 6X6 mesh).
Reinforcing placing drawings shall be prepared by a qualified detailer in accordance with
the most current ACI detailing manual. Submit placing plans to the structural engineer of
record prior to fabrication. Any Grade 60 steel requiring bends shall be shop bent only
(preheating is required). Cold field bending is allowed only for Grade 40 rebar.
All ASTM A-615 (Grade 60) rebar shall be welded according to the most current edition
of the American Welding Society tAWSi D:2 I-75_ "Reinforcing Steel Welding Code".
Specifically, F90 electrodes shall be used, and the base metal shalt be preheated to the
temperature specified in the above reference. No weld shall be made within six (6) bar
diameters of any bend. Ali welders must be WABO certified.
STRUCTURAL LUMBER & TIMBER: -
All lumber shall be graded in accordance with current W WPA standard grading rules Cor
Western Number. Use the following species and minimum grades unless noted otherwise
on the plans -
Studs and Columns.

DFL #1
All plywood shall be APA C-D interior grade with exterior glue and a minimum panel ID
index of 42/20 for floors, 32116 for the roof, and 1610 for the walls.
GLULAM BEAMS:
Douglas -fir Larch combination 24FV4, Fb =2400 psi for beams, laid up with an
approved waterproof glue. Provide an AITC certificate stating that the fabrication has
been performed in accordance with the current AITC commercial standards for structural
glued laminated timber. Appearance grades shall be Architectural (premium) for exposes
members and Industrial grade for concealed members. Submit shop drawings to the
Architect and building department for approval prior to fabrication, and notify the
building department for inspection prior to erection. All cantilever beams shall be
combination 24FV8 unless noted otherwise on the plans

All glulam beams exposed to weather shall be treated with three coats of "Woodlife" or
equal. Paint all scars, cuts and drill holes made after the initial painting with three
additional coats of "Woodlife" or equal.
TRUSS JOISTS:
Standard TJL or T11 sections or equal (unless noted otherwise on the plans) as
manufactured to the standard specificatiohs of the Truss Joist MacMillan Company for
the live loads specified above. Live load deflections are not to exceed IJ240 for the roof
or U360 for the floors.
ROOF SHEATHING:
All plywood shall be APA C-D interior grade with exterior glue and a minimum panel ID
Index of 32/16. Use 7/16" CDX plywood, unblocked, nailed to joists with 10d nails at
six (6) inches on center at all supported panel edges (edge nailing), and at twelve (12)
inches on center along intermediate Ranting members (field nailing).
FLOOR SHEATHING:
All plywood shall be APA C-D interior grade with exterior glue and a minimum panel ID
Index of 42/20. Use %" T&G plywood, unblocked, nailed to joists with l Od nails at six
