AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING SECTION 8.64.010 OF THE EDMONDS CITY
CODE TO RESTRICT TRAFFIC TO AN EASTERLY DIRECTION
ON CASPER STREET FROM SUNSET TO SECOND; AMENDING
SECTION 8.64.030(9) OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE TO
PROHIBIT PARKING ON THE EAST SIDE OF SUNSET FROM
MAIN TO CASPER; AMENDING SECTION 8.64.045 OF THE
EDMONDS CITY CODE TO DELETE PARKING RESTRICTIONS
ON THE WEST SIDE OF SUNSET AVENUE FROM MAIN STREET
TO EDMONDS STREET; AMENDING SECTION 8.64.065 OF
THE EDMONDS CITY CODE TO RESTRICT PARKING ON THE
WEST SIDE OF SUNSET FROM MAIN TO CASPER TO FOUR
HOURS FROM 8:00 A.M. TO 10:00 P.M. AND TO PROHIBIT
PARKING FROM 10:00 P.M. TO 8:00 A.M.; AMENDING
SECTION 8.64.065 TO ESTABLISH FOUR HOUR PARKING
ON BOTH SIDES OF THIRD AVENUE SOUTH FROM MAIN
TO PINE; REPEALING SECTION 8.64.060(3) OF THE
EDMONDS CITY CODE; AND AUTHORIZING THE TRAFFIC
ENGINEER TO ERECT SIGNS PROHIBITING LEFT TURNS
ON SUNSET FROM MAIN AND PROHIBITING "U" TURNS
ON SUNSET FROM EDMONDS TO CASPER, AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Traffic Engineer and the City Council have
determined that it is in the best interest of the public health,
safety and general welfare to establish the parking restrictions
as set forth herein, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 8.64.010 of the Edmonds City Code
is hereby amended to read as follows:
"8.64.010 SCHEDULE I - ONE WAY STREETS.
In accordance with Section 8.24.020 and when properly signposted,
traffic shall move only in the direction indicated upon the
following streets:

NAME OF STREET
Caspers Street from Sunset
to 2nd Ave. N.
DIRECTION OF TRAFFIC MOVEMENT
Easterly."
Section 2. Section 8.64.030(9) of the Edmonds City
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"9. East side of Sunset Avenue from Main Street to Casper Street."
Section 3. Section 8.64.045 of the Edmonds City Code
is hereby amended to read as follows:
"8.64.045 SCHEDULE V-A--STOPPING, STANDING OR PARKING DURING
CERTAIN HOURS ON CERTAIN STREETS PROHIBITED.
In accordance with Section 8.48.145, and when signs are erected
giving notice thereof, no person shall stop, stand or park a
vehicle between the hours specified herein of any day immediately
preceding a weekend, weekends, any day immediately preceding a
public holiday and public holidays within the district or upon
any of the streets or parts of streets as follows:
HOURS - STOPPING, STANDING
NAME OF STREET OR DISTRICT OR PARKING PROHIBITED
1. West side of Admiral Way
from Dayton Street to a point
one thousand six hundred feet
southerly
2. East side of Admiral Way from
Dayton Street to a point one

vehicle whether attached to
said vehicle or not
From six p.m. on Friday to mid-
night on Sunday, and from six p.m.
on those days immediately preceding
public holidays to midnight on
said public holidays for the
period from the Friday preceding
Memorial Day through the Sunday
following Labor Day.
From six p.m. on Friday to mid-
night on Sunday, and from six
p.m. on those days immediately
preceding public holidays to
midnight on said public holidays
for the period from the Friday

Section 4. Section 8.64.065 of the Edmonds City Code is
hereby amended to read as follows:

"8.64.056 SCHEDULE VI -A --PARKING TIME LIMITED FOR CERTAIN PERIODS
OF TIME ON CERTAIN STREETS.
In accordance with Section 8.48.155 and when signs are erected giving
notice thereof, no person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle for
the period of time longer than the number of hours set forth below,
or between the hours set forth below:
NAME OF STREET OR ROAD
1. Sunset Beach access way
and Sunset Beach park
2. West side of Sunset Avenue
from Main Street to Casper
3. Both sides of Bell Street
from Sunset Avenue to Fifth
Avenue North.
4. West side of Admiral Way
from Dayton Street to a point
260 feet southerly
HOURS - STOPPING, STANDING OR
PARKING PROHIBITED
Four hours maximum at any one
time.
Four hour parking eight a.m. to
ten p.m. No parking from ten p.m.
to eight a.m.
Four hour parking eight a.m. to
tenp.m.
Two hour parking from six p.m.
on Friday to midnight on Sunday,
and from six p.m. on those days
immediately preceding public holi-
days to midnight on said public
holidays.
5. Both sides of Third Avenue Four hours maximum at any one time
South from Main to Pine Street."
Section 5. Section 8.64.060(3) of the Edmonds City
Code is hereby repealed and the word "RESERVED" inserted therefor.
Section 6. The Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized
to erect suitable signs prohibiting eastbound traffic on Main Street
from making a left turn onto Sunset Avenue and to erect suitable
signs prohibiting U-turns on Sunset from Edmonds to Casper.
Section 7. The Traffic Engineer is hereby authorized
and instructed to erect signs notifying the public of the parking
restrictions imposed by Sections 1 through 4 of this Ordinance.

Section 8. The city council finds that the residents
on Sunset are subjected to a great deal of annoyance due to the
numbers of cars parked on Sunset and that there is a danger to
pedestrians and motor traffic from the congestion along Sunset.
The city council finds and declares that this ordinance is nec-
essary for the protection of public safety, property and public
peace, and should be effective immediately upon passage.
Passed by a majority plus one of the whole membership
of the council.
