AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON
ANNEXING CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY TO SAID CITY
PURSUANT TO THE PETITION METHOD, REQUIRING
SAID PROPERTY TO BE ASSESSED AND TAXED AT THE
SAME RATE AND BASIS AS OTHER PROPERTY WITHIN
SAID CITY, PRESERVING SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCE
ZONING, AND FIXING THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF
ANNEXATION.
WHEREAS, the City of Edmonds received a Petition for
Annexation of certain real property, the legal description of which is
set forth below, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds has
determined that the City will require the assumption of existing City
indebtedness by the area to be annexed, and
WHEREAS, the said City Council fixed the date of
December 7, 1971 as the date for public hearing thereon and caused
due and proper notice of said hearing to be posted and published, and
WHEREAS, said proposed annexation was not required to be
reviewed by a county review board, now, therefore
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. There has been filed with the City Council of the City
of Edmonds, a Petition in writing signed by the owners of more than 75%
in value, according to the assessed valuation for general taxation of the
property for which annexation was petitioned; that said Petition set forth
the legal description of said real property; that said Petition was
accompanied by a plat or drawing outlining the boundaries of property
sought to be annexed; that said Petition set forth the fact that the City
Council of the City of Edmonds required the assumption of City
indebtedness by the area requested to be annexed; that prior to the
filing of said Petition the City Council had indicated the tentative
approval of such annexation; and that Petitioners further understood
the proposed zoning of said area proposed for annexation as shown in
the proposed comprehensive plan as adopted by Section 12. 04. 091 of
the Edmonds City Code to be Single Family Residential.
Section 2. Tuesday, December 7, 1971 was set as a date for
public hearing on said Petition; Notice of such hearing was published
in the Edmonds Tribune Review, a newspaper of general circulation
in the City of Edmonds; notice of such hearing was also posted in three
public places within the territory proposed for annexation; and said
notice specified the time and place of such hearing and invited interested
persons to appear and voice approval or disapproval of the annexation.
Section 3. The territory proposed by said Petition to be
annexed to said City of Edmonds is situate in the County of Snohomish
in the State of Washington, is contiguous, proximate and adjacent to
the present corporate limits of said City, and is particularly described
as follows:
Lots 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20, R. C. Munger Addition No. 3,
according to the plat thereof recorded in Volume 16 of plats,
page 36, records of Snohomish County, Washington; and
Tract 11, Block 7, Alderwood Manor No. 9, according to the
plat thereof recorded in Volume 10 of plats, page 6, records
of Snohomish County, Washington;
EXCEPT the North 420 feet thereof.
Section 4. The territory set forth in this Ordinance and for
which said Petition for Annexation is filed, should be and is hereby
made a part of the City of Edmonds.
Section 5. Pursuant to the terms of the Annexatirn Petition,
all property within this territory annexed hereby shall be assessed and

taxed at the same rate and on the same basis as property within
the City, including assessments or taxes in payment of any bonds
issued or debts contracted, prior to or existing at the date of annexa-
tion.
Section 6. Said area hereby annexed shall retain the existing
county zoning pursuant to the City Code of the City of Edmonds until
such time as the same may be officially designated on the Official
Zoning Map and, pursuant to the Petition for Annexation herein, the
same shall receive a Single Family Residential District zoning classi-
fication.
Section 7. The area annexed hereby shall become a part of
the City of Edmonds, and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in
force, on the 31st day of December, 1971.
