Ordinance 1590ORDINANCE NO. .5; A0 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON AMENDING SECTION 10. 10. 070 OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE, AND ORDINANCE NO. 1568, BY ADDING A NEW SUBSECTION REQUIRING REPLACEMENT OF SUB- STANDARD WATER MAINS WITH THE INSTALLATION OF PERMANENT STREET OR HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENTS. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 10. 10. 070 of the Edmonds City Code, and Ordinance No. 1568, be and the same hereby are amended by the addition of a new subsection, Subsection D, as follows: Section 10. 10. 070 Mains and service lines. A. All public hydrants in single family areas shall be supplied by not less than six inch circulating water mains. All hydrants in areas other than single family residential shall be supplied by not less than eight inches circulating water mains. Dead end water mains supplying fire hydrants must be at least eight inches in diameter, with the exception of mains up to 50 feet long which may be no less than six inches in diameter. B. The service line from the water main to the hydrant shall be no less than six inches in diameter. Any service lines over 50 feet in length from water main to hydrant shall be no less than eight inches in diameter. The provisions of this Section shall apply without exception and regardless of the size of the service main. C. All water mains serving or plan to be serving f ire protection systems, installed or replaced in the City of Edmonds hereinafter shall have a minimum diameter of six inches. D. When city streets, or state highways having water mains in the public right-of-way, are improved to permanent street or highway improvement standards, any water mains in the public right-of-way of said streets or highways that are substandard as to size or material according to applicable city standards shall be replaced with cast iron water mains conforming to applicable city standards and plans. Such replacement shall be accomplished prior to the completion of the permanent street or highway improvement.
