AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2109, PASSED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL ON JANUARY 8, 1980 AND INCREASING THE
SALARIES FOR THE MAYOR, MUNICIPAL COURT JUDGE
AND CITY EMPLOYEES EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 1, 1980;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City Council has concluded negotiations
with employee labor unions and as a result has agreed and deter-
mined to increase the salaries and wages previously set by
Ordinance No. 2109 by 2-1/2%, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 2 of Ordinance No. 2109, passed by
the City Council on January 8, 1980, is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"Section 2. Mayor. The Mayor shall receive a monthly
salary of $1,010.00."
Section 2. Section 3 of Ordinance No. 2109, passed by
the City Council on January 8, 1980, is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"Section 3. Municipal Court Judge. The Municipal
Court Judge shall receive a monthly salary of $1,141.00,
which shall include all costs of a judge pro tem."
Section 3. The monthly salary ranges for grades of
exempt classifications for positions as defined and designated in
the City of Edmonds' Salary Administration Manual as set forth in
Section 4 of Ordinance No. 2109, passed by the City Council on
January 8, 1980, is hereby amended as set forth on Exhibit "A",
attached hereto and incorporated by this reference as if set
forth in full.
Section 4. The monthly salary ranges for non exempt
(excluding persons in collective bargaining units) classifications
for positions as defined and designated by the City of Edmonds'
Salary Administration Manual as set forth in Section 5 of Ordinance
No. 2109, passed by the City Council on January 8, 1980, is
hereby amended to read as set forth on Exhibit "B", attached
hereto and incorporated by this reference as if set forth in
full.
Section 5. The monthly salary ranges for trainee
grades of non exempt classifications for positions as defined and
designated by the City of Edmonds' Salary Administration Manual
as set forth in Section 6 of Ordinance No. 2109, passed by the
City Council on January 8, 1980, is hereby amended to read as set
forth on Exhibit "C", attached hereto and incorporated by this
reference as if set forth in full.
Section 6. The monthly salary for union personnel for
their respective grades as determined in the applicable union
contract with the Fire, Police and Public Works personnel as set
forth in Section 7 of Ordinance No. 2109, passed by the City
Council on January 8, 1980, is hereby amended to read as set
forth on Exhibit "D", attached hereto and incorporated herein by
this reference as if set forth in full.
Section 7. The monthly salary for the persons pre-
sently appointed as department heads and the monthly salary
ranges for newly appointed department heads, in the event a
department head position becomes vacant for any reason, as set
forth in Section 9 of Ordinance No. 2109, passed by the City
Council on January 8, 1980, is hereby amended as set forth on
Exhibit "E", attached hereto and incorporated herein by this
reference as if set forth in full.
Section 8. The City Council hereby declares an emergency
exists necessitating that this Ordinance become effective immediately
to ensure proper payment of salaries to City employees and shall
be effective immediately upon passage of five (5) or more affir-
mative votes and shall be applicable to the pay period commencing
as of February 1, 1980.
