AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON
AMENDING CHAPTER 1. 04 OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE
SETTING FORTH THE REGULAR MEETING TIMES AND
DATES OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
WHEREAS, the statutory provisions under which a Code City
operating under the Mayor -Council plan for the conduct of City Council
meetings, RCW 35A. 12. 110, conflict with the Open Public Meetings Act
of 1971 in some respects, and
WHEREAS, the City Council currently meets on the first and
third Tuesdays of every month for purposes of conducting public hearings,
passage of ordinances and resolutions and other official business, and in
addition thereto meets on all other Tuesdays in open public meeting for
work sessions but without taking official action, and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to continue to
conduct all meetings before the public, but to be able to take official action
on a regular basis on any Tuesday sitting in open meeting other than the
passage of ordinances, or the passage of resolutions, and in order to more
expeditiously take official action, now, therefore
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Edmonds City Code, Section 1. 04. 010, and
Ordinance No. 1479, be and the same are hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 1. 04. 010 Regular public meeting times and days.
Regular meetings of the City Council shall be held on each Tuesday
of every month throughout the year in the Edmonds Civic Center
at 7: 30 P.M., Provided, however, on the first and third Tuesdays
of every month throughout the year, the City Council will commence
said regular meetings at 8:00 P.M. The City Council shall pass
no ordinance, nor resolution, nor set an officially noted public
hearing except on a first or third Tuesday of any month, Provided,
however, in the event state law requires adoption of an ordinance
or other action on other than a Tuesday, such as budget hearings,
said dates are hereby declared additional regular meeting dates
upon which date the action, ordinance, resolution or hearing may
be adopted and/or taken.
Section 2. There is hereby created a new Section in the Edmonds
City Code reading as follows:
Section 1. 04. 020 Recessed meetings and continuances.
In the event the City Council is unable to complete its agenda on
any Tuesday, it may recess the meeting to the immediately
following Wednesday at the same time and place as the commencement
of the meeting for which the agenda was incomplete. Nothing
herein shall be construed to prevent the City Council from
continuing any item before it in public meeting to a future

regularly scheduled Tuesday meeting of said City Council.
Section 3. There is hereby created a new Section in the Edmonds
City Code reading as follows:
Section 1. 04. 030 Holidays. In the event a regularly sche-
duled City Council meeting falls on a recognized holiday, the
meeting shall take place on the immediately following day at the
same time and place as it would have were it not for the holiday.
