ORDINANCE NO. 2559
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING ECDC 16.30.030 SITE DEVELOPMENT STAN-
DARDS TO AMEND FOOTNOTE 2 TO PERMIT THE USE OF
RS SETBACKS FOR SINGLE-FAMILY RESIDENCES IN RM
ZONES, AMENDING ECDC 16.30.040 SITE DEVELOP-
MENT EXCEPTIONS TO ADD A NEW SUBSECTION C
ADDRESSING ENCROACHMENTS, AND A NEW SUBSECTION
D PROVIDING FOR CORNER LOT SETBACKS, AND FIXING
A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE
WHEREAS, following public hearing and the review and
recommendation of its Planning Board, the City Council determines
that it is in the public interest to amend the Community
Development Code to provide for setbacks for single-family homes
in RM zones, setback encroachments and yard requirements for
corner lots
Section 1. 16.30.030 Site Development Standards„
footnote 2 is hereby amended to read as follows:

B. Signs and Design Review. See Chapter 20.10 and 20.60 for
regulations.
C. Location of Parking. No parking spaces may be located within
the street setback.
Section 2. 16.30.040 Site Development Exceptions is
hereby amended to add new subsections C and D to read as follows:

C. Setback Encroachments. Eaves and chimneys may
project into a required setback not more than 30
inches. Uncovered and unenclosed porches, steps,
patios, and decks may project into a required
setback not more than one-third (1/3) of the
required setback, or four feet, whichever is less,
provided that they are no more than 30 inches above
the ground level at any point.
D. Corner Lots. Corner lots shall have no rear
setback; all setbacks other than the street
setbacks shall be side setbacks.
Section 3. This ordinance, being an administrative
action, is not subject to referendum and shall take effect five
(5) days after passage and publication of the attached summary
thereof, in the City's official newspaper.
