AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING SECTION 4.60.010 AND SECTION 4.60.060
REGULATING THE OPERATION OF FOR -HIRE VEHICLES
IN SAID CITY AND THE AMOUNT OF PUBLIC LIABILITY
AND PROPERTY DAMAGE INSURANCE THEREON.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 4.60.010 of the Edmonds City
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
4.60.010 Definitions.
% "Operating a taxicab's shall be
defined to mean the operation of any taxicab,
for hire car, sightseeing car, cabulance, wheel-
chair taxi, or other motor vehicle for hire driven
by the operator or driver which is designed for the
transportation of handicapped persons who by reason
of physical or mental infirmity may not be conveniently
transported on public mass transportation vehicles,
or who cannot drive their own automobiles, from any
stand or any business telephone within the corporate
limits of the City of Edmonds, or the solicitation of
fares within the corporate limits of the City of
Edmonds. This definition shall not be construed to
include ambulances as defined in Edmonds City Code
Chapter 4.08.
2. "Operator" shall be defined to mean
any person, firm or corporation owning or having
charge of any of the motor vehicles as set forth in
section 1 hereinabove which is being operated within
the corporate limits of the City of Edmonds.
3. "Driver" shall be defined to mean any
person, including the owner, who actually drives any
of the motor vehicles set forth in section 1 hereinabove
within the corporate limits of the City of Edmonds.
Section 2. Section 4.60.060 of the Edmonds City Code
is amended to read as follows:
4.60.060 Insurance Requirements. No license or
inspection certificate shall be issued under this
chanter, nor shall any motor vehicles regulated by
this chapter be operated in this City, unless there
is at all times in full force and effect insurance
coverage issued by an insurance compan-;r licensed to
do business in the state of Washington, for each and
every vehicle to be operated under the license,
providing for public liability insurance in the amounts
$100,000 for personal injuries to one person, or
$300,000 for more than one person arising out of each
accident or occurrence and property damage insurance

in the amount of $25,000 for each accident or occurrence.
Evidence of insurance policies for the full term of the
license shall be submitted to the City Clerk at time of
application for license. Such evidence shall be a
certificate from the licensee's insurance company that
the insurance exists and that it will not be cancelled
without five days' written notice of cancellation
previously given to the City Clerk.
