ORDINANCE NO. 2138
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON
ADDING A NEW SECTION 12.14.022 TO THE EDMONDS
CITY CODE PROHIBITING THE PARKING OR STORING OF
MORE THAN ONE COMMERCIAL VEHICLE OR ANY COMMER-
CIAL VEHICLE OVER 10,000 POUNDS LICENSED GROSS
VEHICLE WEIGHT IN ANY "R" ZONED DISTRICT WITHOUT
A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT AND AMENDING SECTION
8.48.180(B) TO PROHIBIT CERTAIN VEHICLES OVER
10,000 POUNDS LICENSED GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT
FROM PARKING ON RESIDENTIAL STREETS BETWEEN
MIDNIGHT AND 6 AM.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the unregulated
parking of large motor vehicles in residential zones detracts
from the residential character of the neighborhood, contributes
to increased noise and is thus detrimental to the public health,
safety and welfare, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. A new section 12.14.022 is hereby added
to the Edmonds City Code to read as follows:
"12.14.022 COMMERCIAL VEHICLE REGULATIONS.
A. No person shall park or store more than one commer-
cial vehicle or any commercial vehicle over 10,000
pounds licensed gross vehicle weight per dwelling unit
on any lot in any "R" zoned district unless he/she has
first obtained a conditional use permit. For the pur-
poses of this section, "commercial vehicle" means any
motor vehicle, the principal use of which is the trans-
portation of commodities, merchandise, produce, freight,
vehicles, animals, passengers for hire, or which is
used primarily in construction or farming, including
but not limited to bulldozers, backhoes, tractors and
cranes.
B. The provisions of this section shall not apply to
commercial vehicles which are being loaded or unloaded.

Section 2. Section 8.48.180(B) of the Edmonds
City Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(B) Vehicles over 10,000 pounds licensed gross
vehicle weight, the principal use of which is the
transportation of commodities, merchandise, pro-
duce, freight, animals, vehicles, passengers for
hire, or which are used primarily in construction
or farming, including but not limited to bull-
dozers, backhoes, tractors and cranes.
It is not necessary that restricted parking or
other traffic signs be erected for the purpose of
enforcing this section."
Section 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force
and effect five (5) days after passage and publication by
posting as provided by law.
