Ordinance 1648ORDINANCE NO. 1648 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, ADDING A NEW SECTION TO CHAPTER 8.16 OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE, ESTABLISHING A SPEED LIMIT FOR THE OPERATION OF RAILROAD 'TRAINS, ELECTRIC OR TRACTION TRAINS OR ENGINES WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS THEREOF. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds has determined that it is in the best interestsof the public health, safety and welfare that the speed of railroad trains, electric or traction trains or engines be restricted within the corporate limits of said city, now, therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. A new section, Section 8.16.060 is hereby added to Chapter 8.16 of the Edmonds City Code as follows: 8.16.060 Speed of Trains Within City Limits. It shall be unlawful for any engineer, conductor, motorman, or other person, individual, partnership, corporation or other entity having charge or control of the operation of a railroad train, electric or traction train, or engine or other apparatus which operates upon railroad tracks within the city limits of the City of Edmonds to run or direct or cause the same to be run within the limits of said City at a speed greater than twenty-five (25) miles per hour. Section 2. Penalties for Violations. Any person, or the manager of any firm, corporation or other entity violating or directing the violation of the provisions of this ordinance shall be subject to a fine not exceeding Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) or be imprisoned for not more than ninety (90) days 3 3 S" in jail, or borh such fine and imprisonment for each such violation.
