AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASH-
INGTON, AMENDING SECTION 6. 20.030 OF THE
EDMONDS CITY CODE TO REDUCE THE BASIC UTIL-
ITY CHARGE WHERE APPLICABLE FROM $6.84
PER MONTH TO $4. 48 PER MONTH COMMENCING
AUGUST 1, 1981.
WHEREAS, the utility charge increase recently enacted by
Ordinance No. 2139 resulted from an analysis of projected water
and sewer revenues indicating that the previous rates were insuffi-
cient to cover operating expenses, debt service and needed capital
improvements, and
WHEREAS, certain of the capital improvements and land ac-
quisition in connection with the sewer treatment plant would not neces-
sitate continued increase in the utility charge, and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that the increase in utility
charge be reduced after having served the purpose of said additional
capital, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASH-
INGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 6. 20.030 of the Edmonds City Code, as amended by
Section 2 of Ordinance No. 2139, be and the same is hereby amended
to read as follows:
"6. 20. 030 UTILITY CHARGES
A. Except during the time set forth in subsection C below, the utility
charges set forth in this subsection shall be added to and made a
part of the monthly rates for water supplied through the meters
(as set forth in Section 6. 20. 020):
1. Residence, single-family,
duplex, apartment houses,
and other multiple units,
except hotels, tourist camps,
trailer parks and motels.
2. Tourist courts, motels,
trailer parks, hotels

B. These rates do not apply to industries or manufacturing concerns
which have industrial wastes and these, with any other activities not
covered in this chapter, will be dealt with on a special basis and
have special rates set for the particular business by the water/utility
administrative staff subject to review by the City Council.
C. Effective June 1, 1980, through and terminating with the close of
July 31, 1981, the basic utility charge shall be $6 84 per month
(rather than the $4.48 per month) indicated in subsection A above.
Wherever the rate of $4.48 appears in subsection A above, during
said period of time (June 1, 1980 through July 31, 1981) the rate
shall be $6.84 per month. "
