AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING SECTION 8.66.040 OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE
REQUIRING EVERY MOROTCYCLE AND EVERY MOTOR DRIVEN
CYCLE TO HAVE HEAD AND TAIL LAMPS LIGHTED WHEN IN
MOTION ON PUBLIC ROADWAYS IN SAID CITY.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 8.66.040 of the Edmonds City Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
8.66.040 Safety Equipment. It is unlawful in the City:
(1) For any person to operate a motorcycle or
motor driven cycle not equipped with a mirror
.on each side of the handle bars thereof;
the two mirrors shall be so located as to
give the driver a complete view of the road-
way for a distance of at least two hundred
feet to the rear of the motorcycle or motor
driven cycle;
(2) For any person to operate a motorcycle or
motor driven cycle which does not have a
windshield unless the operator wears glasses,
goggles or a face shield of a type approved
by the Washington State Commission on Equipment;
(3) For any person to operate or ride upon a
motorcycle or motor driven cycle unless he
wears a protective helmet of a type approved
by the Washington State Commission on Equip-
ment. The helmet must be equipped with
either a neck or chin strap which shall be
fastened securely while the motorcycle or
motor driven cycle is in motion.
(4) For any person to operate a motorcycle or motor
driven cycle on any roadway within said city
unless the same shall have its head and tail-
lights lighted at all times during said operation.
