AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
ADOPTING THE 1973 EDITION OF THE UNIFORM FIRE CODE
AND REQUIRING CERTAIN EXISTING MULTIPLE FAMILY
DWELLINGS TO COMPLY WITH PORTIONS OF SAID CODE
WITHIN ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY (180) DAYS OF THE
EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds, Washington,
has determined that it is in the best interest of the public
health, safety and welfare of the City and its citizens to adopt
the 1973 Edition of the Uniform Fire Code and to require certain
multiple family residential dwellings to come into compliance with
certain portions of said code within 180 days of the effective
date of this ordinance, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 10.04.010 of the Edmonds City Code is hereby amended
to read as follows:
"10.04.010 Code Adopted by Reference. That certain
printed code, three copies of which are and have
been on file in the office of the City Clerk of the
City of Edmonds, for use and examination of the
public being marked, printed and designated as the
'Uniform Fire Code, 1973 Edition' including appendices
A, C, D and E, but excluding Article 12, Section
12.101 through Section 12.106, appendices B and F,
is adopted by reference and incorporated herein as if
fully set forth within this chapter, as the Uniform
Fire Code of the City of Edmonds, subject to the
modifications and amendments hereinafter set forth,
and each and all of the regulations, provisions,
penalties, conditions and terms of such uniform fire
code herein mentioned and as amended and on file in
the office of the city clerk is established, pursuant
to the laws of the State of Washington, as the Uniform
Fire Code in and for the City of Edmonds.
Section 13.307 of the Uniform Fire Code, 1973 Edition,
adopted herein is hereby amended by adding a new
subparagraph, "(e)," to read as follows:
"(e) Existing apartment houses, as defined in
paragraph (a) above, shall comply to the provisions
of this section within a period of 180 days from
the date the ordinance adopting this section is
effective."
