AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, AMENDING A
SCHEDULE CONTAINED IN SECTION 8.16.040 TO DECREASE THE MAXIMUM
SPEED LIMIT PERMITTED UNDER STATE LAW ON PORTIONS OF U.S.
HIGHWAY 99 TO 45 MILES PER HOUR AT ALL TIMES.
Section 1. Section 8.16.040 of the Edmonds City Code is hereby amended
to read as follows:
"8.16.040 Decrease of State Law Maximum Speed. It is determined
upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation that
the speed permitted by state law outside of business and residence
districts as applicable upon the following set forth streets is
greater than is reasonable or safe under the conditions found to
exist upon said streets and it is declared that the speed limit
shall be the mikes per hour as herein set forth on those streets
or parts of streets herein designated at the times herein specified
when signs are erected giving notice thereof:
Name of Street
At all Times or
Speed Limit (During Daytime)
U.S. Highway 99 (PSH No. 1) 45 m.p.h. At all times
from 212th Street S.W. to
the Edmonds' north city
limits (608 feet, more or less,
from 212th Street S.W.)
Section 2. The City Engineer is hereby authorized to transmit a
certified copy of this ordinance to the State of Washington Highway
Department to obtain their concurrence in the establishment of the speed
limits on the roadways as set forth in Section 1 above.
