AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING THE SCHEDULE CONTAINED IN SECTION 8.16.040
OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE TO DECREASE THE MAXIMUM
SPEED LIMIT PERMITTED UNDER STATE LAW ON PORTIONS
OF STATE HIGHWAY 524 FROM THE EAST CITY LIMITS TO
11TH AVENUE FROM.35 M.P.H. T0.30 M.P.H. AT ALL TIMES
AND TO DECREASE THE SPEED LIMIT ON SR 104 (SUNSET
AVENUE) FROM MAIN TO DAYTON STREETS AND ON SR 524
(DAYTON STREET) FROM SR 104 (SUNSET AVENUE) TO
3RD AVENUE FROM THE STATE MAXIMUM SPEED TO 25 M.P.H.
AT ALL TIMES.
WHEREAS, the Traffic Engineer has determined and the City
Council of the City of Edmonds, Washington so finds it is in
the interest of the public health, safety and general welfare
to decrease the speed limit on State Highway 524 (196th Street
S.W.) from the east City Limits of Edmonds to llth Avenue
within said City from.35 m.p.h. to.30 m.p.h. at all times,
and to decrease the speed limit on SR 104 (Sunset Avenue)
from Main Street to Dayton Street from the maximum permissible
under State law to 25 m.p.h. at all times and to decrease
the speed limit on SR 524 (Dayton Street) from SR 104 (Sunset
Avenue) to 3rd Avenue from the maximum permissible under State
law to 25 m.p.h. at all times, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Table of Streets contained in Section
8.16.040 is hereby amended by adding thereto the following
entries:

Section 2. The City Engineer is hereby authorized to
transmit a certified copy of this Ordinance to the State of
Washington Highway Department to obtain their concurrence
in the establishment of the speed limits on the roadways as
set forth in Section l above.
Sectona3. That upon receipt of the concurrence of the
State Highway Department with the establishment of the speed
limits as provided in Section 1 hereinabove the City Engineer
is hereby directed to remove, replace, modify or install such
signs as are necessary to carry out the purposes of this
Ordinance.
